Are you ready for a Pushups Challenge!!
Pushup is very popular exercise all around the world. But very few can actually do more than one pushup not to mention that the
age puts another restriction on how many a person can do them.
Turbulence Training author Craig Ballantyne recently put forward a challenge for all the readers of Men’s Health Magazine. The bar
he set was very high. For men under the age of 45 the fitness level was determined as follows:
Less than 20 push-ups
à out of shape
20-34 push up
à average
35-49 push-ups
à fit
More than 50
à “Men’s Health” fit
For women under the age of 45 the number was cut by 60%. So an average level of fitness would not even be more than 12
push-ups.
For beginners to develop strength it is recommended to start with kneeling pushups. Starting with 10 of those a day and adding
another set every now and then till you add up to doing 3 sets per day.
Now you are ready to go another level up. On this level you start with a push up position with your knees off the ground. Start
with lowering your body to the ground slowly in 3-4 seconds. Now you put you knees on the floor and push up. Do these eight reps. You now
will be ready to do full pushups in no time.
For the ones who can already do full pushups can follow these steps to raise your fitness level. Note the number of pushups you
can do. Start with just the half the number and reset for half a minute and repeat again and again. Next week reduce the number of seconds
by ten seconds and so on. Now after 3 weeks start with a new number.
